CRIBBS WEEL LEAGUE

FINALS NIGHT  -  Wednesday 14th August 2019

A double whammy for Wanstead Central

Despite some pretty rough weather during the day, we decided to press on with finals night at Fords Bowls Club, playing 15 ends

It would have been churlish not to play as when we arrived the green keeper was cutting the surface and there were around 40 spectators

Dry with spells of drizzle, meant that the bowling wasn’t as accurate as we’ve seen in the past, but that said there was some pretty decent stuff played

In the final, two rinks were fairly close with the lead changing between the two teams. Wanstead Central were well up on the third, but towards the end Romford closed the gap, but finally succumbed

Central held on to win the closest game by two and despite a Romford win on the third, Wanstead Central won 5-2 to lift the £400 prize.

Central’s evening was complete as their ‘A’ team defeated Aldersbrook by the same 5-2 margin

THANKS

The committee would like to express their thanks to all members of Fords BC, not just for their efforts to get the green playable but for managing to provide an excellent meal

despite their plans to use the hall in the main building being scuppered at the last minute by some pretty selfish ball-room dancers

Worthy of note is that this was the first time ever, that every club was represented at finals night to collect their well-earned winnings!

All member clubs thank our sponsor T. Cribb and Sons for their continued support

I hope you all ‘winter well’ and that we see you again in May
